News: Jubilee Celebrations at School

This term the children have been learning all about the Queen in preparation for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations taking place across the country in June. As school will be closed for the Whitsun holidays during the national celebrations, we’re having our own event, here at school on Friday 27th May.

Plans include:
  • A huge “Street Party” style lunch with the whole school eating outdoors
  • Classes parading around the village during the day (routes to be confirmed)
  • Singing in the rockery
  • Discos for the children in the school hall
  • Special activities in classes
  • A gift for every child courtesy of Llay Community Council
The canteen will be serving a special menu on the day – a hot buffet served in a Union Jack box with a crown! Please ensure you have booked and paid for this in advance using ParentPay. Of course, children are still welcome to bring their own packed lunches and school will be providing extra ‘treats’.
Friday 27th May will be a non-uniform day: we would like children to come to school wearing either Red, White & Blue or dressed as a Prince/Princess/Queen/King/Knight etc. (we know much some children love to dress up!!)

In addition, we are making a special community Jubilee banner to display at school and would welcome community groups to create their own square! Fabric squares are available from school for anyone interested, please contact school for further information.

Please keep your fingers crossed for fine, dry weather on the day!!
Many thanks,
Mrs Billington
