News: Reporting a Child Absent

Annwyl Pawb,
When a child is absent from school, parents/carers must contact the school office to explain the absence. When no reason is shared with school, an ‘N’ code is recorded on our system, which is an unauthorised absence with no reason provided.
From today, any ‘N’ codes recorded on our system after 9.30am, will generate an automated email to parents/carers, asking them to contact school to share the reason for the absence. The emails will continue to be sent hourly, throughout the day, until a reason is provided and the system is updated. Parents can contact school via telephone (01978 859100) or email [email protected]
Once the My Child at School App is up and running, these messages will notify parents through the app and parents will be able to use the ‘Report an Absence’ feature to streamline the process.
Understanding and accurately recording attendance and reasons for absence forms part of our commitment to safeguard children. Parents/carers should aim to inform school as early as possible of any absences and must contact school each morning with updates if the absence continues over a few days. There are exceptions to this, for example when school has been made aware of a long-term absence due to an illness or a holiday.
Whilst we iron out any technical issues that may arise with the new system, we ask that parents/carers are patient with us and we apologise in advance if any messages are sent in error during these early stages.
Thank you for your continued support.
Kind Regards,
Mrs Billington
