Annwyl Pawb,
Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond to the recent consultation regarding the proposed change to the end of the school day for Year 3 pupils.
Governors carefully considered all feedback received before reaching a decision. Following this process, Governors have agreed that the proposal will go ahead from September 2026.
From the start of the new academic year:
-
Year 3 pupils will begin the school day at 8:50am (no change).
- Year 3 pupils will finish the school day at 3:05pm, bringing their finish time in line with Year 2 pupils within the mixed Year 2/3 class.
This change will provide greater consistency within the mixed-age class, support smoother end-of-day routines and reduce disruption to teaching and learning.
We would like to reassure parents that class timetables have been carefully reviewed and adjusted to ensure that Year 3 pupils will continue to receive a broad, balanced and high-quality curriculum. The school will continue to deliver the full requirements of the Curriculum for Wales, and there will be no reduction in the quality of teaching, learning opportunities or curriculum experiences available to children.
We also recognise that some families will have children finishing at different times. To support these families, Year 3 pupils who are waiting for parents collecting siblings from other classes will remain safely supervised by school staff until they are collected. This arrangement will ensure that all children remain safe, happy and well cared for whilst parents make their way around the school.
We appreciate your continued support as we make this change and are confident that it will benefit the organisation of the school day while maintaining the high standards of education and care that we strive to provide for all children.
If you have any questions regarding these arrangements, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Kind regards,
Mrs Billington
