We are very fortunate to be welcoming Detective Inspector Sofiah Valentine from North Wales Police to Park CP this week to deliver an important information session for parents and carers about keeping children safe online.

We apologise for the short notice, but we were keen to take advantage of this valuable opportunity. Some of you may have seen the recent article in The Leader over the weekend featuring DI Valentine and her work leading the Online Child Abuse Investigation Team for North Wales Police.
The online world is an increasingly significant part of children’s lives. While it offers many positive opportunities for learning, communication and creativity, it also presents risks that can be difficult for parents, carers and schools to navigate.
DI Valentine will share her professional knowledge and experience to help parents better understand online risks and consider practical ways of helping to keep children safe.
This session is specifically for parents and carers and is not intended for children.
We recognise that the short notice and afternoon timing will mean that not everyone is able to attend. We will therefore try to arrange a repeat session next month for parents and carers who cannot make this one.
Keeping children safe online is most effective when school and home work together, with consistent messages, open conversations and a shared understanding of the risks children may encounter. We would therefore strongly encourage parents and carers who are available to join us.
We hope to see as many of you as possible on Wednesday.
