What a brilliant adventure we had on our visit to the Wrexham Museum storeroom last week!
The excitement started before we even got there — the children were absolutely buzzing on the bus, chatting away about what they might see. When we arrived, we were greeted by the lovely museum staff who gave us a special tour of all the fascinating items stored away behind the scenes.
The children became official museum helpers by making their very own staff badges – they looked very professional! We learned how to carefully hold and look at old toys, and the children did such a fantastic job handling everything so gently (even the grown-ups were impressed!). Some of the toys were so old that Miss Ivison even remembered playing with a few herself – much to everyone’s amusement!
We had some great chats about the different toys and then the children each chose their favourite one — it was lovely to see how thoughtful they were with their choices. And of course, no visit would be complete without some playtime, so we finished the session with lots of toy fun.
All that excitement was tiring work, and there were a few sleepy heads on the way back to nursery — always a sign of a day well spent!
This week we’ll be heading back to the museum again, and we’ll be taking all our bags with us. To make pick-up easier (and a little less overwhelming!), please could parents meet us directly at the bus? It was a little bit scary for some of the children walking through the crowds to find you all last time.
Thank you for your support — we can’t wait for this week’s visit.
