News: Parent Governor Vacancies

Annwyl Pawb,
Parent Governor Vacancies – Could You Make a Difference?
We currently have two vacancies for Parent Governors on our Governing Body and we would love to hear from parents or carers who may be interested in becoming more involved in the life and future direction of our school.
What does a Parent Governor do?
School governors play an important role in schools across Wales. The Governing Body works collectively to support the school and its leadership, while also providing appropriate challenge and oversight.
Governors contribute to a wide range of areas, including:
  • helping to shape the strategic direction and priorities of the school;
  • supporting and challenging the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team;
  • monitoring school improvement and learner outcomes;
  • overseeing important areas such as safeguarding, finance, curriculum and inclusion;
  • considering and approving school policies; and
  • helping to ensure that decisions are made in the best interests of all our children.
You do not need to be an expert in education to become a Parent Governor. We are looking for parents and carers who are interested in our school, are willing to contribute their ideas and perspectives, and want to help us continue to develop Park CP. Training and support are available to help governors understand and carry out their role.
Interested? Here’s how to apply
Parents and carers may nominate themselves or another eligible parent/carer. If you are nominating someone else, please make sure that you have their permission before submitting their name.
Nominations should be emailed to [email protected] and should include:
  • the name of the person being nominated;
  • the name of their child and class;
  • a short personal statement about themselves and why they would like to become a Parent Governor.
Please be aware that the personal statement will be shared with parents and carers as part of the ballot information should an election be required.
The deadline for nominations is 12 noon on Friday 9th October 2026.
If we receive more nominations than the two vacancies available, a Parent Governor election will be held the following week, with parents and carers having the opportunity to vote for their preferred candidates.
Being a governor is a valuable opportunity to contribute to the continued development of our school and to represent a parent perspective as part of our Governing Body.
We would be delighted to receive nominations and encourage anyone who feels they could make a positive contribution to consider putting themselves forward.
Diolch for your continued support.
Kind regards,
Mrs Billington
Headteacher
