News: School will be OPEN!

Annwyl Pawb,
I am aware that there is speculation about school closures all over social media, so I thought I’d clarify the situation here at Park CP. There is currently as amber warning in place across Wrexham and therefore, we will be OPEN tomorrow as usual! We may be hot and sweaty but we’re doing out best to manage the conditions as best we can!
We will continue to follow all WG and LA guidance which includes the children spending periods of time outdoors in shaded areas, where today there has been a lovely, gentle breeze. All children are being encouraged to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and we’ve supplied ice-lollies to classes throughout the day. Once again, a huge THANK YOU to the parents who have donated these. We’ll make sure that there are more available tomorrow.
I understand that parents may be concerned about how their child is coping in the heat, especially in the afternoon. Some parents made the decision to collect their children early today (after lunch) which was understandable – as always, the well-being and safety of the children is our priority. If you plan to do this tomorrow, please let staff know as early as possible by messaging over MCAS, telephoning school or by emailing class teachers.
I am doing my best to try to get the menu changed for tomorrow from the planned roast dinner to something more appropriate. As you will be aware the catering team sit separately to school and as soon as I have confirmation of their decision, I will let parents know. Please remember that whilst school meals are provided free of charge to all children, parents always have the option of providing a packed lunch from home.
To those amongst you who continue to work in this heat wearing heavy uniforms or in sweltering factories or in hot kitchens or in hospitals and care homes without air-conditioning or in fields in intense heat without shade… – please know that we are thinking of you and are grateful for everything that you’re doing!

Thank you all for your continued support – please enjoy the sunshine safely!
Kind Regards,
Mrs Billington
