Annwyl Pawb,
As I am sure you are aware, the current weather forecast is predicting heavy snowfall this evening due to Storm Goretti. As a result, there is a possibility that school may not be able to open safely on Friday 9 January 2026. At the moment we plan to open, but as things can change quickly I will endeavour to keep everyone updated in a timely manner. The final decision will not be made until tomorrow morning, upon completion of a dynamic risk assessment.
Please be assured that a decision to close the school is never taken lightly. Any decision will be based on a number of factors, with the health and safety of the children, staff and community always being the highest priority. Factors include site safety, access routes, staffing levels and guidance from the transport networks, police and local authority.
I would advise that parents and carers check the school website and app regularly on Friday morning for updates. Information will also be shared via the Wrexham County Borough Council website – www.wrexham.gov.uk
Please note that Treasure Chest operates separately from the school and will have their own systems and arrangements in place, however, the likelihood is if school is closed then they will also be closed.
To ensure no families make an unnecessary trip, Breakfast Club will not open tomorrow until 8.15am even if school is open.
I sincerely apologise in advance for any inconvenience or disruption this uncertainty may cause and thank you for your understanding and cooperation. As the saying goes, “We can’t control the weather” all we can do is try to be prepared.
Let’s hope that Goretti passes us by gently with minimum disruption.
I’ll keep you all posted – please stay safe.
Kind Regards,
Mrs Billington
Pennaeth
Whether the weather be cold,
Or whether the weather be hot,
We’ll weather the weather,
Whatever the weather,
Whether we like it or not! 🙂
