Annwyl Pawb,
I do hope everyone is well on this rather chilly Monday!
Ireland
The children may (or may not!) have told you all that I was away from school last week – visiting schools in Ireland. Along with a group of teachers from across Wales, I had the pleasure of spending time in four schools around Dublin, with a particular focus on the development of literacy. The Irish education system is very different to ours in Wales and it was a really interesting experience. I shall be sharing some of the differences with the children and staff over the coming weeks and using some of the things I observed, to give teachers food for thought on how we can further develop literacy at Park CP.
Whilst on the visit, I of course, shared how amazing the children at our school are and I’m hopeful that some virtual links for the children can be made with the schools I visited.
Curious Learning Community
Whilst I was away, we had a visit from Dave Harris of Independent Thinking, who came to work with staff and some of the children on our Curious Learning Approach. This new and innovative method to further develop children’s inquisitive natures, is being developed across the school and will support our challenge based learning approach. Mrs Jones, Miss Jones and Mrs Griffiths are in the process of adapting our Time to Shine room to include a Curious Corner, with weird and wonderful puzzling objects and games for the children to explore.
We are super excited about this new approach and once it’s a little more established, we’ll invite parents in to find out more.
